Q: What will I have to do to my vehicle before it is
transported?
A: Have no more than ¼ tank of fuel in the vehicle’s gas
tank. Remove all personal items from the vehicle.
When your vehicle is picked up, you and the driver
need to carefully review the condition of the vehicle,
and then the driver will give you a signed document
describing the condition thoroughly.
Q: How do I know my vehicle will get to its destination
safely?
A: You need to make sure the broker who arranges the
transportation uses licensed, bonded, and insured truck
drivers with good driving records. A reliable broker
will discontinue using trucking companies that have
poor driving records, unreliable transportation times,
or a history of delivery problems. Ask your broker.
Make sure they only use fully insured, dependable
trucking companies.
Q: How far in advance should I schedule my vehicle pickup?
A: The more notice we have the better. Trucks pick up and deliver
vehicles all over the country. With advance notice, we can better
schedule your vehicles pickup. If you are leaving the area, you must
plan enough time in advance for us to pick-up the vehicle before you
go. If, for some reason, this cannot be done, you must have an
alternate party (friend, relative, neighbor) who will be able to release
the vehicle to the truck driver for you. They will have to sign for you
as well.
Q: How long should and auto transport take?
A: Shipping time all depends on the transporter- listed below are some very
basic ideas to help you along the way. Make sure however you
contact us for their actual scheduled times.
East Coast to West Coast- approx. 7 to 14 days
Midwest to East Coast- approx. 5 to 8 days
South to the North- approx. 5 to 8 days
All shipping times are estimated; do not base your transport on these
examples without first contacting us for assistance.
Q: Can I pack things in the truck or in the car?
A: No, Auto Transporters are not permitted by law to transport personal
belongings, as they do not have a household goods transportation
license. Ace Auto Movers and carrier truck drivers cannot assume
responsibility for any personal items packed in the vehicle.
Q: What if my vehicle does not run?
A: We will add additional charges to cover an inoperable vehicle in our
quote if you inform us up front of the vehicle’s condition. We will
add $150 plus loading and unloading charges to your quote if we are
not informed of the vehicle’s true condition.
Q: What should a consumer do if their vehicle arrives with damage?
A: First thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that
the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading.
The damage should clearly be marked and noted, then signed for
by the driver. Upon completion of delivery, a call should be placed
to your carrier to inform them of the damage. In most cases the
carrier will ask for an estimate and send you payment in a couple
of weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and unwilling to work with
you to resolve the issue, make sure you contact their insurance
company and make a claim. Be sure however, you have all the
documentation to back up your claim. False claims can result in
legal action by the carrier or agent.
